Cluny 910 - 2010 : Abbey of Cluny celebrating 1100th Anniversary

Cluny 2010 is the event celebrating the 1100th Anniversary of the foundation of the Abbey of Cluny, in Southern Burgundy. It will take place in Cluny itself and in related places throughout Europe, from September 2009 untill December 2010. Over 200 activities will be organized to mark this anniversary,  around three major events:

- « Ouvrez les portes ! », which was organized the 13th of September 2009, to start the Cluny 2010 event.
- La Fête des Bâtisseurs, from the 29th of June untill the 4th of July 2010, marking the extraordinary legacy of the builders of Cluny (international expositions, special Abbey visits, exceptional opening to the public of certain houses and gardens, shows...)
- Last but not least, « Toute l’Europe à Cluny », September 2010. This will be the opportunity to welcome all Cluny citizens of Europe in the town of Cluny. The town will be completely transformed by Teatro Potlach. A special horse show will organized by the Haras National.

A varied program all Summer 2010

Besides the big events described above, lots of ther activities will be organized in the town of Cluny during the Summer 2010. There will be three expositions, "Des Pierres et des Hommes" (=about stones and men), about Cluny sculptures, "Cluny, apogée de l'art roman" (=Cluny, a story about Roman art) or even "Ecole de Cluny, les clés de la connaissance" (=The Cluny school, keys to knowledge). The town of Cluny will also be animated with lively shows, conferences, spiritual gatherings, etc.
